About This Position

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate. Primary research focus in the laboratory is the development of unique nanomedicine platforms for diseases where mitochondria can play as an important target. We focus on diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and neurodegenerative diseases. Candidate will work to incorporate nanotechnology with chemotherapy , design and synthesis of novel nanoparticle platforms to deliver multiple types of drugs. Candidates with a strong background in synthetic chemistry, polymer chemistry, nanoparticle synthesis, and characterization are highly encouraged to apply for this position. Close acquaintance with tissue culture (culturing cancer cells, primary cells, and stem cells), cellular biology, and molecular biology, and/or animal studies is desirable. This position will support career growth of the individual by providing opportunities to participate in grant writing, mentoring young researchers, and providing resources to learn a large number of cutting edge techniques. Candidate must be passionate about research, energetic, and enthusiastic about lab work and be flexible in working with multiple projects. In our lab, our major focus is in learning and we look at research projects as problem solving activities to provide the scientific community with new/unknown knowledge for eventual translation of our technologies for human use.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. or other doctoral degree in a basic science discipline or M.D. Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
