Microbiologist supporting new product development for Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health. This position will interact product development teams, R&D Quality & Compliance staff, Pilot Plant team members as well as the Global R&D Microbiology team. The assistant scientist will review formulations and select the best preservation options, suggest manufacturing process improvements, send / receive / interpret results of test samples sent to internal and external laboratories, and participate as a member of the Global Micro team. Primary focus will be on OTC / Self Care products.
The Assistant Scientist, R&D Microbiology will be responsible to:
- New product development and launches. Responsible for AET, Aw, pH, specifications, stability recommendations and documentation.
- Training, compliance, global microbiology projects.
- Represent R&D Microbiology on internal product development and launch teams. Interact with Pilot Plant staff to support ongoing GMP compliance. Interact with supervisor and contractor. Participate on Global R&D Microbiology team.
- Sending samples, receiving and interpretation of microbiology data from external laboratories and vendors.
- Support to Fort Washington Pilot Plant and contractor.
- Occasional support to LCM / Tech Ops and Quality as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science is required; preferably in Microbiology or other biological science such as Biology with lab work in Microbiology
- At least 1 year of experience working in Microbiology
- Previous experience using aseptic technique, microscopy, using an autoclave, preparing media, isolating and identifying microbes is required.
- Understanding of USP and GMP is required.
