How will you make an impact?
This position will have dual roles, leading the site Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives and in supporting the PPI Process Manager. They will provide support to the Site's goals of an all-encompassing safety culture and a culture of continuous improvement. The position will lead the Site in EHS matters with a continual improvement mindset towards practical solutions and system development. The EHS Specialist and PPI Process Manager will share responsibilities associated with the site's 5S program.
What will you do?
- Plan, implement, and coordinate EHS Management System activities across the organization to help reduce or eliminate occupational illness and injuries, improve employee engagement, and reduce business risks and losses.
- Introduce and interpret various Federal, State, and Local recognized rules, regulations and procedures as they impact the company, including but not limited to OSHA and the EPA
- Provide guidance to a wide-range of departmental teams on the execution of site procedures in relation to EHS procedures and policies
- Work with counterparts at other sites within our division to ensure consistency of application of EHS tools & documentation
- Maintain site's Business Continuity Plan
- Train colleagues in and facilitate projects that follow the PPI 8-step method as well as other PPI/lean tools (5S, VSM, 3P, etc.)
- Take ownership of site's 5S program, including training on the 5S method, executing projects in production and non-production areas, and ensuring each area maintains its 5S status
- Assist with other PPI activities as assigned by the Site PPI Lead/Operational Excellence Site Specialist
How will you get here?
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a Science
Experience:
- 5 - 7 years related EHS experience and working knowledge of PPI Processes
- Experience working in a pharmaceutical, chemical manufacturing, or lab environment preferred
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA and EPA requirements
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Possess a strong team-oriented mind-set with a pro-active approach to problem solving.
- Solid computer skills including Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Power Point etc.)
- Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills
- Self directed and goal oriented
- Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to respond to questions from Sr. Management, peers and clients.
- Capability of writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Must possess the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, and facilitate / implement policies and procedures.
