Position Summary:
  • We have an exciting opportunity for a Life Cycle Assessment Engineer. The individual selected for this position will support LCA development and modeling for LanzaTech's gas fermentation technology to commercialize chemicals and fuels.
  • Development of appropriate methodologies to capture all positive and negative externalities, and combining with established LCA methods, allows LanzaTech to focus and position its technology to capture all the environmental benefits that it offers.
  • Responsibilities include supporting LanzaTech's LCA modeling approach, writing, and publishing both internal and external reports, and collaborating on cross-functional teams with Engineering, Science, Business Development, and Government Relations.

Specific Roles:
  • LCA development and modeling of LanzaTech's gas fermentation technology to commercialize chemicals and fuels.
  • Support the review and benchmark of LanzaTech's processes across competing technologies, and commercial and pre-commercial platforms for production of fuels and chemicals.
  • Support the development of LCA methodology for re-use of wastes and residues for industrial waste gases, and well as solid wastes, for both fuels and chemicals.
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of LCA principles, theories, concepts, and industry practices and standards and their application.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal and external collaborations.
  • Work with internal and external customers to use LCA to identify, evaluate and optimize process solutions related to process modeling, R&D, optimization, design, costing and implementation.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or related Engineering disciplines with a focus on life-cycle analysis
  • 1-3 years of work experience (postdoctoral or industry related) in life-cycle analysis
  • Team player that thrives in a cutting edge, fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Detail-oriented and experienced in communicating instructions to other team members
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
