SUMMARY:

The primary initial responsibility of the Project Manager will be within the International Science Reserve (ISR), a new initiative of the Academy. The ISR will bring together experts and specialized resources from across the globe, to prepare for, mitigate, and respond to, complex urgent global crises such as another global pandemic or impacts of climate change. The goal of the ISR is to assess risks and deliver scientific capabilities that would be mobilized in the face of global crises to provide rapid solutions, accelerate new discoveries, and support scientifically informed decision-making.

The ISR will actively prepare for global emergencies by conducting ‘readiness exercises'. The "readiness exercises" will be designed to rehearse and practice the processes involved in shifting from a "steady state" (preparedness) to an "emergency state" (deployment) when resources are mobilized during a crisis. When a crisis actually happens, the ISR will coordinate the specialized personnel, hardware, data, and software resources from around the world to respond to the situation quickly and effectively.

The secondary responsibility of the Project Manager will be to work with the Academy team and its partner organizations (corporations, foundations, government agencies, individual stakeholders) to create and deliver a portfolio of activities in Physical Sciences, Sustainability & Engineering (PSSE).
