Job Description: GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES Teaches introductory botany for students majoring in related STEM fields and for students taking their required general education science lab course. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Responsible for instructional preparation and assessment of students in a hybrid setting, with synchronous and asynchronous lectures and in-person labs on campus. * Responsible for working with science department staff to plan lab activities and prepare lab supplies/set-up, and for paperwork for off-campus field trips. * Provides support to students through virtual or in-person appointments, via email, or other virtual platform as needed. * Attends a limited number of virtual faculty meetings Requirements: * Master's degree in Plant Biology or related field * Experience teaching college-level botany or closely related course * Demonstrated ability to teach online utilizing Moodle course management system and video conferencing technology * Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate hands-on student learning activities in a lab and outdoor setting DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Successful community college teaching experience * Previous experience teaching online * Commitment to the mission of the community college * A demonstrated commitment to promoting domestic diversity and/or global multiculturalism in the curriculum where appropriate WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position is located in a classroom, lab and/or office, not subject to extreme variations of temperatures, odors etc. Moderate noise. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Operates equipment i.e. Computer, calculator, copier/fax machines etc. The person in this position needs to move about inside a clinical setting, classroom, lab and/or office. Will also move about throughout the campus as needed. The person frequently communicates with students and colleagues. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations. Occasional travel to meetings etc. Additional Information: SALARY: $1,132 per credit. Course can run from one to four credits.
