Principal Scientific Researcher, Computational Biology (Personalized Therapies)

We are seeking a highly motivated computational scientist to join Genentech's personalized therapies efforts. In this role you will work closely with Pharma Technical manufacturing colleagues, as well as Research discovery scientists to apply state of the art sequencing technologies and advanced bioinformatics techniques to characterize, monitor and develop quality metrics for our personalized cancer immunotherapy final products. The scientific and manufacturing process insights you discover will play a critical role in enabling a new manufacturing paradigm for Roche/Genentech that delivers individualized and life-changing immunotherapeutics to patients.

Applicants should have strong communication skills, a learning mindset, the ability to work in a fluid environment, and a strong desire to pursue creative solutions to challenging problems. External publication of both scientific and methodological innovations is strongly encouraged.

Successful candidates will have many of the following attributes:

Exceptional Masters or PhD in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology, software engineering, or a similar field

Deep understanding of computational approaches and available public tools for analyzing next generation sequencing data for genomics, long read, bulk and single-cell profiling applications

Expertise in programming languages such Python and R, experience using version control tools, familiarity with Linux and cloud based high-performance computing environments

Experience in working with teams including biologists, technologists, software engineers and computational scientists is a plus

Knowledge of genome engineering using CRISPR is a plus

Familiarity and interest in development of automated analysis workflows to transform raw sequencing data into interpretable processed results ready sharing with bench scientist collaborators

Excellent communication and data presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex scientific results to a diverse audience
