We have a number of positions available in our growing Research organization! https://tptherapeutics.com/careers/#opportunities

Turning Point Therapeutics is a public, clinical-stage precision oncology company with three molecules in clinical development and one in IND-enabling studies. Our internally discovered investigational drugs are designed to address key limitations of existing cancer therapies. We are applying a highly refined design methodology anchored by deep SBDD expertise coupled with a disciplined chemistry approach and enabling biology expertise to build upon our early portfolio. Our Research organization has the exciting task of discovering new investigational molecules and identifying new clinical opportunities for our existing pipeline molecules. We seek talented, committed cancer researchers to join our growing team and develop transformational therapies for cancer patients.

We seek a highly motivated Associate Scientist or Sr. Associate Scientist with extensive experience in biochemical and cell based assays to join our Cancer Biology & Translational Research Department. The colleague will develop and run disease-relevant assays to help inform structure-activity relationship analysis and perform in vitro mechanism of drug action studies to drive drug discovery team decisions. The candidate would distill relevant findings from the scientific literature to adapt experimental approaches for internal efforts. This scientist is comfortable working in a highly collaborative team environment and is expected to have strong written and oral communication skills. The colleague will be a key contributor to the Turning Point Therapeutics Research organization that delivers a robust preclinical pipeline of high-value, novel oncology small molecule inhibitors spanning from Target ID to IND submission.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Devises and executes cancer biology experiments to support projects from target validation through clinical candidate selection
  • Defines cellular mechanism of action for key discovery molecules using techniques such as Western blotting, WES, and ELISA
  • Performs cell based assays on drug candidates such as cell viability and soft agar assays
  • Ensures timely delivery of incisive and actionable biology data that defines/refines drug discovery strategy
  • Analyze and document experimental data in ELN (electronic lab notebook) in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with company policies
  • Communicate scientific strategies effectively in a variety of internal and external settings
  • Furthers Turning Point Therapeutics' culture of scientific excellence and achievement
  • Read and adapt relevant scientific literature to achieve the goal of individual projects and programs
  • Ability to schedule and prioritize workload effectively within a multi-task environment

Desired Skills and Experience
  • Degree in biology, biochemistry (B.S., M.S.), or related discipline with 3-10 years of in vitro cellular pharmacology and drug discovery experience (industry experience preferred)
  • Good understanding of cellular signaling
  • Experience in oncology small molecule drug discovery
  • Experience with cell culture and functional cell assays (e.g. cell viability 2D and 3D, migration, apoptosis)
  • Extensive experience of Western blotting/WES/ELISA
  • Experience with biological tools (siRNA, shRNA, and CRISPR) is a plus
  • Identify, develop, and implement new experimental protocols and techniques to generate reliable and reproducible data
  • Interpret results and draw conclusions from experiments
  • Detail-oriented scientist, with good organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • A desire to be part of a highly innovative company aimed at transforming the lives of people with serious diseases, their families, and society
