Description

Johnson Electric is now hiring for an EHS Specialist for Vandalia, OH location. The primary focus of this position is ensuring our facility complies with all applicable environmental, health and safety regulations and JE corporate requirements.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
  • Champion a strong EHS culture focused on engagement, awareness, and proactive risk management.
  • Provide EHS leadership, technical expertise, and data analysis to the organization.
  • Implement and manage site EHS programs, compliance plans, and improvement initiatives.
  • Lead investigations of incidents and near misses, ensure corrective actions are completed to minimize future exposure, and maintain required documentation and online reporting systems.
  • Conduct, coordinate and track required training to support external and internal requirements.
  • Perform routine safety observations and audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies, procedures and practices.
  • Manage all functions, including point of contact, data collection, and reporting, related to permits, requirements, or processes for air, water and waste regulations.
  • Maintain awareness of any safety or environmental law or regulation changes that impact the organization.
  • Manage ISO14001 and ISO45001 certification for the site.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
  • Participate in manufacturing meetings to discuss workplace safety and regulatory concerns and opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with regional and site leaders, line supervisors and all other employees.
  • Keep the Operations Manager and Human Resources Manager up to date on matters relating to EHS.
  • Assist in the oversight of the Worker's Compensation program
  • Special projects as required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Eligible to work in the United States without need for sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Bachelor's degree


Preferred QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with responsibility for EHS function
  • Experience managing and/or implementing ISO14001 and/or ISO45001
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to be on call or work off hours as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with attention to detail.
  • Superior analytical/ problem solving, written and verbal communications.
  • Ability to work and communicate with diverse groups internationally.
  • Experience working with local regulatory agencies.
  • Familiar with various emission control devices and methodologies to ensure compliance.
  • Travel may be required - less than 10%

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or closely related field
  • ASP/CSP (preferred)
  • First Responder training (preferred)
  • Must be authorized to work in US without company sponsorship now and in the future.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • The environmental conditions for this job range from climate controlled indoor activity to inclement outdoor extremes of cold, heat, wind and various forms of precipitation. Noise variance is also encountered.
  • This job requires the ability to be on your feet walking around the facility, indoors and out, at least 30% of the day. Additional requirements include climbing ladders/stairs and lifting 35 pounds as required to perform necessary job tasks. Required to sit, stoop, kneel and crouch.
  • The use of PPE, such as safety toe shoes and safety glasses are required.
