Our High Dimensional Biology team within Discovery Science is committed to drug discovery projects from target identification to preclinical development. We identify innovative treatments across our therapeutic areas in close collaboration with biologists and chemists. We are looking for scientists with deep expertise in high-content imaging and cell-based assays, and a passion for finding innovative therapeutics to treat diseases with high unmet medical need across all five therapeutic areas.
In This Exciting Role, You Will:
- Apply state-of-the-art drug discovery approaches in a multidisciplinary team!
- Lead development of innovative cell-based assays to identify and evaluate hits and lead compounds using high-content imaging, gene expression profiling, primary cells and/or co-culture methods.
- Act as the department point-of-contact with program teams and with computational biology colleagues to analyze assay data and identify promising compounds using multiparametric approaches and AI/ML.
- Analyze and present data at program team meetings, in-house seminars, leadership meetings and external scientific conferences, and publish research in high-quality journals.
- Mentor and lead lab scientists and contribute to the growth of the biosignature portfolio.
Qualifications
Education:
- Ph.D. in cell biology or equivalent with post-doctoral experience and at least 7 years developing and applying cell-based assays in a pharmaceutical industry setting is required.
Required:
- Deep expertise collecting and analyzing data using high content imaging is required.
- Strong experience designing and implementing complex cell-based assays is required.
- Proven experience as a leader, problem solver and team collaborator able to facilitate understanding between biologists and data scientists, is required.
- Expertise in assay automation is required.
- Demonstrated ability to apply novel approaches to address difficult biology questions, as evidenced through strong peer-reviewed publications, is required.
- Excellent written communication, verbal communication, and presentation skills are required.
- Experience with leading one or more team members is required.
Preferred:
- Expertise using high content methods such as flow cytometry and transcriptional profiling is desired.
- Proficiency with CAS/CRISPR, lentivirus and RNAi approaches are desired.
- Expertise in immunology, cardiovascular, infectious diseases, neuroscience and/or oncology is desired.
- Experience working with and/or guiding external collaborators in industry or academia is desired
