Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Wetlands/Natural Resource Scientist with 5-10 years in applied desired experience independently conducting federal and state wetland delineations in the northeastern US (New England focus), participating/leading wildlife habitat assessments and wildlife field surveys including T&E species, and vernal pool species. The successful candidate will be based in either our Rocky Hill, CT or Providence, RI office.
- Fully qualified scientist. Utilizes scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
- Requires general familiarity within a broad field of scientific knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines/fields.
- Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
- Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.
- Solves problems by use of combinations of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
- Participates in planning required to achieve prescribed objectives.
- Conducts analysis and investigation work obtained from a variety of sources.
- Performs inspections and tests to ensure compliance.
- Participates in developing corrective measures and procedures. Formulates hypothesis, performs research and makes recommendation.

Minimum Requirements
- BA/ BS in Biology, Environmental Science, Soil Science, Geology, or related field + four years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications
- MS in Biology, Environmental Science, Soil Science, Geology, or related field
- Knowledge of federal and New England wetlands regulations, permitting requirements and proficiency with preparing wetland, wildlife technical reports and preparing environmental permit applications desired.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills desired. Ability to work on field surveys of several consecutive days desired.
- Field/Office split is 50/50 so strong computer skills and regulatory/writing knowledge and experience desired. Prior working experience in MA, CT, RI, NY desirable.
