EHS Coordinator.

The chemicals manufacturer is in need of a qualified Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator to be responsible for supporting and maintaining compliance with all the company's policies and regulatory requirements.

The EHS Coordinator will directly contribute to the creation of a world-class safety culture and assist in the reduction of the environmental impacts of operations across the company, primarily focused on the areas of training, regulatory compliance, and direct support. This position reports directly to the Operations Director for the site.

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate current EHS programs and activities to ensure compliance with all government agency and regulatory requirements.
  • The report, monitor, and correct environmental, health, and safety problems/issues.
  • Guide and promote safe work practices by developing proactive EHS systems, policies, and procedures; develop safety and environmental campaigns, communications, and recognitions in line with business strategies.
  • Maintain unique approaches to adult learning, and conduct training for all employees.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of company and regulatory EHS policies, standards, guidelines, and programs to meet the overall improvement strategy.
  • Assist in achieving company environmental and safety goals, including injury, water, energy, and waste reduction.
  • Respond to and support the overall company sustainability strategy to ensure the site is achieving company goals.
  • Administer an environmental, health, and safety audit program, including industrial hygiene.
  • Maintain a PPE program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Local travel; limited domestic travel to regional meetings, conferences, or events may be required.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required Experience
  • 3+ years of experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of EHS regulations and requirements (EPA, OSHA, etc.).
  • Knowledgeable in the technical fundamentals of safety management and risk assessments and reduction, including machinery safety, ergonomics, and occupational health.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 EHS management systems is a plus.
  • Excellent presentation and training skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment while managing multiple assignments with strict deadlines.
  • Skilled at using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
