Career Opportunity:

Silgan Dispensing Systems is searching for a Regional SH&E Manager with proven experience in developing and executing comprehensive health and safety programs, focusing on risk reduction, loss control, safety, environment and compliance. We are looking for a dynamic leader who can inspire and empower excellence in safety, health and environmental programming with principal focus in our manufacturing locations in Connecticut but also to provide leadership and support to two sister facilities in the eastern region (Ohio and Rhode Island). The successful candidate will be a key strategic member of local plant leadership teams and regional management teams.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate, coach and support Plant and Department Managers on all SH&E matters.

Build consensus and create behavioral based safety compliance across the sites.

Ensure compliance with relevant regulations through implementation of the SDS Safety

Management System, corporate and local policies and procedures, training and behavior-based management systems.

Conduct and support facility safety audits, inspections and evaluations and ensure timely remediation.

Drive thorough incident investigation, root cause analysis, system-wide correction action development / tracking, recognize and respond to trends.

Track and report safety metrics and formulate continuous improvement strategies.

Consult on design of machinery related to guarding, ergonomic risks and compliance with applicable safety programs.

Conduct qualitative assessments and coordinate the plant Industrial Hygiene sampling and analysis.

Work with HR to administer the company's Workers' Compensation program, including investigation and response to workplace injuries.

Manage Emergency Preparedness and Response Programs.

Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local reporting and environmental permitting

30% Travel may be required

Qualifications:

Required:

Bachelors or master's degree in safety, industrial hygiene, occupational health science, engineering or a life science.

10+ years of experience in SH&E (5+ years in a leadership or management role).

Strong project management skills.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing, in personal coaching and in small and large group training sessions.

Leadership and management skills; ability to challenge existing models and support change management with an organization.

Skilled in HS&E information systems, data analytics and using data to analyze trends and drive proactive solutions.

Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Working knowledge of SH&E regulations for general industry (e.g., 29 CFR 1910), Federal, State and Local regulations and ability to locate and interpret guidance and regulations.

Preferred:

Experience in manufacturing

Experience in lean manufacturing/Six Sigma preferred.

Professional designations (e.g., CSP, CIH, etc.) desirable.

Experience with environmental sustainability initiatives a plus
