This position involves rare plant surveys and monitoring across the State of Utah to assist with prioritization of conservation plans and actions. Our team is responsible for tracking Utah's rare plants and maintain the database and information that is kept to assure the preservation of our natural botanical heritage. Assistance with written reports also expected.

Conduct field and office work in rare plants, and plant and pollination ecology. Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:
Field data collection on rare and common plants and pollinators, rare plant monitoring work, light office duties as assigned

Experience in field botany, use of dichotomous keys and general knowledge of Utah geology. Experience with ArcMap and with MS Office products (particularly Excel and Access) necessary and ArcGIS online a plus. Comfort and experience with outdoor living, driving in the backcountry and back country navigation. Experience and ArcGIS particularly helpful. A valid driver's license is required for the purpose of driving a University vehicle. Successful applicants will be expected to work under difficult field conditions for extended periods of time.

$18-20 per hour, commensurate with experience

The environment and physical requirements may change depending on the specific function of the work each department performs. Incumbents may be in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoors, in an office space, event space, or public space are protected from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. Incumbents may nearly continuously sit and often use repetitive hand motion (such as typing).
