Looking to join a great team and grow your career? Environmental Standards is seeking several Staff Chemists in our Valley Forge, PA headquarters. This is an early-career, non-laboratory role primarily supporting our environmental data validation practice, with significant opportunity to advance into chemistry quality assurance consulting. The ideal candidate will have an analytical chemistry or environmental analysis background (instrumentation experience a plus), and will be detail-oriented, with a strong desire to learn. Position Summary This position is considered "entry-level" for professional environmental chemistry work. Employee will be closely supervised on virtually all aspects of a chemistry assignment. Little to no overnight travel will be required of employees in this position. Employee will exercise limited independent judgment in day-to-day responsibilities. Essential Job Functions * Review environmental laboratory data in an organized and concise manner, consistent with and as prescribed by corporate and US EPA data validation standard operating procedures, quality assurance project plans, and published analytical methods; * Extensive report preparation is required, which will undergo rigorous scrutiny of project manager and/or senior chemistry staff; * Minimal client interaction; * Limited marketing responsibilities with no public speaking or authorship of professional papers; * Take direction and execute assignments; * Exercise considerable care in following directions; * Additional duties as may be assigned. Minimum Requirements * B.S. degree in Chemistry or an allied science from an accredited college or university; * 0-3 years of environmental laboratory experience in GC/MS, GC, ICP, HPLC; * Familiarity with the US EPA methods for the preparation and analysis of environmental samples; * Able to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language; * No prior experience is required. Desired Skills and Abilities The following qualifications are preferred: * Able to review environmental laboratory data for completeness; correctness; compliance against the published analytical methods; and usability utilizing corporate data validation standard operating procedures, US EPA data validation guidelines, and Quality Assurance Project Plans; * Possess a basic understanding of chemistry principles and their application to environmental data review; * Able to use a variety of office equipment, such as computers, fax machines, photocopiers, scanners, and videoconferencing and telephone systems; * Computer literate - capable of performing tasks such as: create spreadsheets; compose correspondence; and create reports, and documents using desktop software; * Exhibit discretion and good judgment; * Possess keen analytical skills; * Detail oriented; * Ability to work independently.
