Definition THIS IS A COURTESY POSTING FOR AMERICORPS Please send all inquiries to: Riley Vaughan The Environmental Education Outreach AmeriCorps Member will serve alongside the Interpretive Educator to provide additional resources to the community with event planning, environmental program development and evaluation, and outreach to the youth population. The member will provide the Interpretive Educator with additional supports and resources to increase the environmental stewardship of the Davenport Community. TERM OF SERVICE:September 7, 2021 - August 20, 2022 MINIMUM HOURS OF SERVICE: 900 hours LIVING ALLOWANCE:$7,200.00 EDUCATION AWARD AT COMPLETION OF SERVICE:$3,172.50 Examples Of Duties Site Specific Service Activities: * Develop a plan with the Interpretive Educator to provide Youth Programs and Event Outreach to the community focused on nature and wellness. * Plan activities for the following events: * Events at Vander Veer * Fejervary Family Fun Days * YouthFest * Fall Festival at Fejervary * Fejervary Holiday Lights Develop educational signage and youth activities for Summer and Winter Theme at Fejervary Park.Organize and develop the educational programming for the VanderVeer Summer theme, concert series, and movie nights the Vander Veer Summer theme, concert series, and movie nightsDevelop Environmental Education Curricula for * Elementary Classrooms * After school education * Outreach Organize, develop, and implement youth programming forMy Little WheelbarrowCoordinate a schedule for Fejervary Learning Center's Earth Day Extravaganza Clean-up day at the park Qualifications * Post-secondary education and training in the field of Horticulture, Environmental Studies, Biology, Conservation, Science Education, or similar field of study * Experience working with children and youth in a school setting * Understanding of best practices in child development, behavior management, developmentally appropriate activities, child safety, etc. Site Schedule: Service activities will take place predominately at the River's Edge, Vander Veer Botanical Park and Conservatory, and Fejervary Learning Center. The AmeriCorps Member will serve an average of 18-19 hours a week, Mon-Fri between the hours of 9am-5pm. Members schedule could include nights and weekends as events arise.
