Basic Qualifications BA/BSc or equivalent degree in geology, biology or zoology with emphasis on invertebrate paleontology (anatomy and taxonomy). Minimum of 3 years of experience in invertebrate paleontology preparation. Additional Information In order to be considered for this position, a cover letter and resume are required. A submission of a portfolio detailing preparation projects is required at time of application as well. * All formal offers will be made by FAS Human Resources. The MCZ was founded in 1859 by an act, signed into law, by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts primarily through the efforts of Louis Agassiz, a brilliant lecturer and scholar from Switzerland. The museum established and served as a training ground for professional zoologists and influenced many budding US museums through this new generation. Research at the MCZ continues to follow Agassiz's vision to illuminate the structures of living things, their natural classification and relationship with their surroundings, while remaining a leading institution for modern zoological research. The present-day MCZ collections are comprised of approximately 21-million extant and fossil invertebrate and vertebrate specimens and associated object collections (such as the Blaschka glass invertebrate models), which continue to be a focus of research and teaching for MCZ, Harvard and outside students and researchers. Job Summary The Invertebrate Paleontology Technician and Preparator operates and manages the Zoology Preparation Laboratory II within the Museum of Comparative Zoology (MCZ). The position reports directly to the department's curatorial associate, with indirect reports to the department's faculty-curator and MCZ's Director of Collections Operations.
