Are you passionate about your work and dream of utilizing state-of-the-art facilities to explore solutions? Join a dynamic team that solves challenging issues for nation's security? If so, you could be the Environmental Professional we are seeking. This position will support the stormwater quality and air quality regulatory compliance programs. The primary duties will be ensuring regulatory compliance of construction activities that require a Construction General Permit and/or Fugitive Dust Permit.
On any given day, you may be asked to:
- Oversee and ensure compliance with NPDES stormwater permits
- Prepare SWPPPs, NOIs, NOTs, and reports
- Oversee collection of water quality samples and report data to EPA using NetDMR
- Review NEPA checklists to determine if an activity or facility needs an NPDES permit
- Prepare regulatory permits and compliance plans
- Conduct site inspections. Identify corrective actions
- Prepare FOPs, forms, and other programmatic documents. Provide compliance training to MOW and contractors
- Advise management, providing recommended actions to ensure environmental compliance and program execution.
- Interfaces with customers and regulators for audits, permitting, notices of violation, corrective action planning, and root cause analyses.
- Track and provide permit data and metrics to program leads. Assist with stormwater sampling.
- Provide a variety of support to stormwater and other water quality programs
You must have the ability to conduct inspections at construction sites where uneven ground and other hazards may exist.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or related scientific discipline, plus (3) years of experience working in an environmental related field
- Direct experience with technical/scientific requirements in federal and state laws, regulations, and orders as they apply to environmental practices and environmental enforcement
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to obtain a stormwater inspector or equivalent certification
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US DOE L-level security clearance
Desired:
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Experience using CDX and Net DMR
- Experience with stormwater permitting and water quality sampling
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines and deliverables
- Proficiency in the use of MS Excel for data analysis and regulatory documentation
- Commitment to continual improvement and motivation to collaborate with members of the workforce to identify potential risks and find solutions
- The ability to energize others
- Strong communication and writing skills
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPR Certification
- Ability to obtain a CISEC or CPESC certification within 1-year of hire. Knowledge of Sandia's environmental policies, practices, and procedures

Security Clearance:

This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
