Sr. Manager of Environmental Services * Job ID: 71033698 * Job Family: Operations Support * Location: Rosemead, CA US * Other Locations: Job Description Join the Clean Energy Revolution The Project Environmental Management (PEM) Division is responsible for environmental review, permitting, and construction support of utility operations and projects. The team handles multiple projects with short response times in compliance with environmental requirements. Following SCE's environmental compliance requirements when performing maintenance of SCE's electrical infrastructure is a critical piece to following environmental laws and regulations while providing safe and reliable power to customers. Become a Senior Manager of Distribution Line Projects within PEM at SCE and be a part of building a better tomorrow. In this job, you will play a key role in supporting environmental projects performed across the service territory. You will be responsible and accountable for ensuring that all applicable construction and maintenance projects are run through SCE's work management system and within the guidelines of our internal processes to evaluate potential impacts on environmental resources and confirm appropriate steps are taken to ensure project environmental compliance. Guidance may vary by project and may include automated review, issuance of general and specific environmental requirements (i.e., resource protection measures), agency engagement, or environmental permitting. You will be tasked with establishing and implementing robust and comprehensive environmental controls in key project phases and engage with peer managers and partners in operations, law, risk, and agency relations. The Senior Manager will be a trusted partner to support distribution programs and goals and will be an integral part of embedding environmental stewardship into company operations while providing greater oversight and accountability of environmental compliance. A day in the life - Get ready to think big and work smart! * Lead a team of environmental senior advisors, advisors, and senior specialists. Make hiring decisions, evaluate performance, delineate areas of responsibility, and assign work. * Handle improvements to the environmental clearance process, to provide strategy, program management, contract management, permitting, and technical guidance in areas such as water quality, coastal, biological, and cultural resources. * Establish compliance oversight from project initiation to field execution, including management of an estimated $25M per year in environmental compliance activities. * Direct and lead work management systems and protocols (i.e., EHSync environmental clearance system) estimated 40,000+ projects per year, develop general and site-specific environmental requirements, support risk-based permitting approaches, and provide guidance on controls to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations. * Develop new capabilities and continuous improvement of existing content. Maintain and improve compliance metrics to measure performance and engage work with peer managers in ESD to assist with root cause analysis and discussions with operations to seek for greater compliance with requirements. * Develop strategic and operating plans for environmental review and compliance for major programs (i.e., pole replacement and wildfire mitigation). * Interact with operational peers, operations senior management, and ESD management to provide consultation and recommendations for ensuring environmental compliance and driving the resolution of regulatory challenges. * Serve as the overall subject matter expert for the company by providing interpretation of environmental regulations and rules, which affect the environmental review and execution processes. * Assist with development of environmental compliance training curricula. Qualifications The essentials * Bachelor's Degree in biology, geology, engineering, environmental science, policy, business or other related environmental field, or business (functional area of contract management and business relationship management) * Five years of experience managing or supervising an organization with the ability to lead a staff of technical professionals to provide strategic focus in professional development, performance management, or five years of experience in leading technical programs * Experience in budgeting, planning, and strategic thinking * Experience in building business relationships with internal and external customers * Experience working with Contractor management * Experience handling data within a work management system or application with a continuous improvement mentality The preferred * Seven years of experience leading an organization or seven years of experience in managing environmental programs * Five years of experience in regulatory analysis and permitting. * Excellent written and oral communication skills and experience delivering technical presentations to senior company leaders * Experience as an inclusive, forward-thinking leader who mentors and motivates a team * Experience working with technical and non-technical audiences, including peers, clients, management, and contractors to implement solutions to environmental challenges. * Experience handling data within an environmental compliance management system.
