The Environmental Health & Safety department, consisting of Safety Professionals and Engineers in Pendleton, South Carolina, is seeking an Intern to provide support in daily tasks, while gaining functional experience in a medical device manufacturing environment. The chosen individual will assist in complex equipment machine safety validations, evaluate adequacy of safety controls, assist with developing and reviewing basic safety training classes, regulatory related inspections and perform basic Job Hazard Analysis and Chemical Hazard Analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong data analysis experience and pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a Bachelor of Science in an Engineering related field.

Please note, Arthrex Internships are paid positions and are eligible for limited benefits including free lunch and access to our onsite medical clinic! The ideal candidate for this internship will be available from August - November 2021 and have the availability to work at least 25 hours per week at our Pendleton, SC facility.

Main Objective:

To support our dynamic Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) team in daily tasks, while gaining functional experience in a medical device manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with complex equipment machine safety validations via checklists.
  • Evaluate adequacy of safety controls (PPE, administrative and Engineering) through OSHA and internal standards.
  • Assist with developing and reviewing basic safety training classes (e.g. content review, documentation, scheduling)
  • Perform basic Job Hazard Analysis and Chemical Hazard Analysis.

Education and Experience:

Progress towards a college degree in a related field required.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Basic to intermediate computer skills. Be able to follow written and verbal direction.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel. Fax; Scanner.
