Part-Time, Up to 20 Hours per Week

Year-round position, not benefit eligible

The City of Eagan is hiring two Preschool Teacher's Assistants!

We are seeking energetic, enthusiastic candidates who love working with young children. This position is responsible for assisting Preschool Teachers with implementing and conducting play-based recreational preschool classes for children ages 3 to 5.

Monday - Thursdays mornings from 9:00am - 12:30pm

Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00am - 12:30pm

POSITION FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist in carrying out the day-to-day curriculum for classes up to 20 children
  • Assist in creating a wholesome, caring atmosphere in which the activity occurs
  • Assist with set-up, cleaning, take-down, and use of facility, equipment, and materials
  • Assist with the supervision of participants
  • Provide his/her own transportation to program site(s)
  • Communicate with parents and the public in a professional and courteous manner
  • Respond to work direction from teachers and program supervisor

POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
  • Relay information to Teacher and Recreation Supervisor regarding parent communications, supply inventory, and behavior issues
  • Respond to staff schedule changes and work with a range of Teachers and teaching styles
  • Available for scheduled work hours listed above


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous paid work experience with preschool aged children and/or parent-child classes
  • Valid Driver's License


DESIREABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Coursework or in-service hours in Early Childhood Education or closely related field
  • Current Certification in CPR and First Aid


PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, write, hear, balance, run, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, dance, sing and other movements in a variety of environments. Vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision, color vision and peripheral vision. Employees may also be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • 75% indoors, and 25% outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Possible exposure to debris and blood borne pathogens
