Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Technician 1, Imaging (2nd Shift) at our Discovery site located in Morrisville, NC.

In this position, you will perform optical imaging, micro-CT and routine in vivo research activities. With guidance, the ResearchTechnician 1 will be responsible for in vivo study execution and data acquisition, to include tumor implantation, monitoring laboratory animals, dosing, anesthesia, small animal surgery and tumor collection, reagent preparation, reagent injection, image acquisition, raw data preparation and data analysis. This is a second shift position with hours of 11:30 am to 8:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

The following responsibilties are related to the Research Technician 1, Imaging position:

• Perform routine research activities as assigned, including in vivo, ex vivo and in vitro based screens
• Upon completion of training, perform routine to moderately complex in vivo and in vitro research activities with minimal guidance
• Perform optical imaging on small animals using IVIS spectrum CT
• Operates small animal anesthesia system
• Perform basic daily equipment maintenance
• Perform dosing of laboratory animals, animal husbandry and animal tissue collection
• Prepare and verify dosing solutions for administration
• Perform detailed assessments of animal health and well-being
• Provide assistance to technical staff as needed
• Collect, enter, and analyze research data; perform data reporting to senior research staff
• Understand study design then confirm and verify that protocol is properly updated prior to initiation of studies
• Prepare, organize and verify study data, study folders and study forms
• Upon study completion, close study folder and assure that all written documentation has been witnessed, verified and signed
• Review study report and gives feedback on the accuracy of materials and methods section
• Provide support for tumor maintenance and animal husbandry

Job Qualifications

The following are minimum requirements related to the Research Technician 1, Imaging (2nd Shift) position:

Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in biology, zoology or related discipline.
Experience: No experience required
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
Certification/Licensure: ALAT, LAT or LATg certification through AALAS preferred.
Other: Experience with IVIS spectrum or other related optical imaging devices preferred. Experience in the handling, dosing and husbandry of laboratory animals, or relevant course work. Experience in the collection and entry of data or relevant training. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications. Good organizational, communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Self motivated, able to efficiently manage tasks with high quality and adjust rapidly to change in experimental priorities. Data entry and data collection skills. Attention to detail.
