Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking to hire a dynamic, self-driven, and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Climate Action Planning Project Manager. The primary job responsibilities will be leading the development of climate action plans and other sustainability or climate change related projects. Climate plans are data focused and therefore, the successful applicant will have experience with GHG inventories and forecasts, emissions modeling, as well as GHG reduction measure development, lifecycle costing, and report writing and review. Secondary responsibilities include business development and leading proposals and marketing efforts. This position entails working directly with our clients and sustainability staff to collaboratively develop defensible, actionable, and quantitative Climate Action Plans. This position requires the ability to write, an understanding of modeling techniques and regulatory requirements, clear writing and oral communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills.

What Do You Get To Do In This Position:
  • Develop and manage multidisciplinary teams to develop climate action plans and other sustainability/climate change related deliverables
  • Develop/review GHG emission inventories and forecasts
  • Develop and quantify mitigation measures, performance measurement matrixes, and monitoring programs
  • Contribute to the writing and design of planning documents
  • Conduct reviews of both technical analyses and climate action planning documents
  • Assist in staff training program and workload management
  • Work with sustainability staff to identify new and innovative GHG reduction measures and approaches
  • Collaborate and facilitate discussions with a wide range of stakeholders including the sustainability team, city staff, regulatory agencies, utilities, and others
  • Perform business development functions, including proposal preparation and active involvement in planning/climate industry/ organizations
  • Oversee and train junior staff on climate action planning and other planning/environmental/sustainability requirements
  • Interface with clients and make public presentations to agency decision-making bodies
  • Perform agency consultation and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Demonstrate confidence in decision-making and be recognized by clients and peers as having expertise in climate and sustainability related technical areas


This Job Might Be For You If You Have The Following:
  • BA/BS preferably in environmental science, climate science, urban planning or related discipline; an advanced degree is desired.
  • 3-5 years of related experience working in California; private environmental consulting firm experience is a plus
  • Excellent writing, presentation and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead a large, multi-disciplinary team
  • Strong schedule and budget management abilities
  • Understanding of GHG regulations, requirements, and climate action
  • High level understanding of greenhouse gas inventories and forecast calculations and strong understanding of excel based calculations
  • Problem Solver - Results-Oriented
