The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas seeks to identify and recruit a Chair of the Department of Cell Biology.

The Department of Cell Biology is a hub that connects research across all scales of biological complexity and between basic and translational research at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Using sophisticated live-cell imaging, high-resolution cryoEM microscopy and tomography, state-of-the art molecular biology and cell engineering, and genetically tractable model organisms, and mathematical modeling, our internationally recognized faculty members conduct cutting-edge research encompassing multiple aspects of cellular function, including:

• Membrane trafficking and organelle dynamics

• Cilia biogenesis, structure, and function

• Viral-host cell interactions

• Telomere biology and aging

• Genomic organization and stability

• Cytoskeletal dynamics and cell morphogenesis

• Cancer cell biology

• Apoptosis

• Cell-Matrix Interactions and cell migration

• Cellular Signaling Networks

In addition to research, the faculty is dedicated to training the next generation of cell biologists through the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, as well as providing basic medical education in cell biology, histology and anatomical sciences to students from the Medical School. Faculty members mentor students in multiple graduate programs, including Cell and Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Genes and Development, and Biophysics. Graduate students benefit from flexible programs that can be tailored to each student's individual needs.

The UT Southwestern administration seeks to recruit an exceptional individual with world-class scientific achievements, vision and leadership skills, and is committed to providing a recruitment package commensurate with these qualifications. A doctoral degree in Cell Biology or related area is required. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Candidates are encouraged to contact the Chair of the Search Committee, Dr. Yuh Min Chook, by email at YuhMin.Chook@UTSouthwestern.edu.
