Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Biologist for immediate employment in Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Illinois. We are seeking a flexible, adaptable, and motivated individual to join our group. This position would support numerous projects in the region with a focus on wildlife biology and/or botany. Primary duties include general biological surveys for wildlife, plants, and/or vegetation, electronic data collection, and preparation of technical reports. Additional duties may include assisting on botanical surveys, listed species surveys, conservation plans, and habitat management plans, or assisting with natural resources related field surveys. Experience conducting general species surveys for avian (including nest searching), herp, mammal, and invertebrate species, and/or experience conducting botanical surveys and vegetation characterization and mapping desired.
Responsibilities include but aren't limited to the following:
- A Biologist with documented professional experience that will work closely with the AECOM team of biologists and environmental professionals to support project environmental projects throughout the country.
- Conducts wildlife and habitat assessment surveys, including nesting bird surveys.
- May support preparation of environmental permit application materials and agency notification packages.
- Communicates and coordinates effectively with all members of the project team.
- Lead field teams extensive work in outdoor settings, performing various natural resources surveys across the country.
- Preparation of technical reports supporting impact assessments, wetland delineations, endangered species surveys, habitat assessments.
- Assistant Project Manager duties including tracking budgets, managing schedules, monitoring milestones, and managing clients.
- Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.
- Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS in Ecology, Biology, or other Natural Resources field + 2 years of relevant biology and natural resources experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Ability to travel on short notice, up to 75 percent for field work, client meetings, and agency coordination activities.
- A valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 - 4 years of experience in biology and natural resources.
- Ability to conduct work year-round in adverse climate and field conditions.
- Experienced working outside conducting field surveys and monitoring of construction sites.
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Strong communication skills leading inter-disciplinary teams.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Has a positive attitude and is adaptable to change in a fast-paced work environment.
- Highly organized with a strong detail-oriented work style.
- Working knowledge of special-status wildlife species and rare plant survey protocols.
- Experience preparing and/or implementing permits issued by the State Department of Fish and Wildlife, US Army Corps of Engineers, Regional Water Quality Control Board, US Fish and Wildlife Service, and/or National Marie Fisheries Services.
- Has connections with clients that will be beneficial to business development.
