Job Description
EMSL Analytical, Inc., one of the largest environmental testing firms in the United States, is currently seeking a Full Time Microscopist Microbiology at our busy 24/7 New York, NY location. This position offers the chance to work for a stable company, a great team, and provides the opportunity to grow within.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Classical and advanced methods for microbial and bio-aerosol analysis. Identification of bacteria and fungi.
Preparation and analysis of Microbiological samples (air, water and bulk materials) for fungus and bacteria.
The successful candidate must be familiar with daily activities in the laboratory, including analyzing samples with unknown IDs.
Maintaining the QA/QC Program and Standard Operating Procedures.

Requirements:
B.Sc. or MS in mycology/microbiology/bacteriology with strong background in Bacteriology.
Ability to enumerate, identify and confirm a wide variety of bacteria and fungi is desired
0 to 2 years' experience- Entry level candidates are welcomed to apply.
College-Level course in Statistics or Quality Assurance is a plus.
Experience with air samples, surface samples, food testing, bacteriology, and mycology is desirable.
Two years environmental microbiology lab experience is a plus but not required.
Candidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
Must have some lab experience and be proficient in common lab procedures.
Must be able to work with phase contrast and light microscopes, analytical balances, biological safety cabinets, filtration manifolds, and must be able to adhere to sterile technique and good lab practices.
Good Communication Skills (will have some client interaction).
Good Computer Skills both in Typing and MS Office.
Attention to Detail.
Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
Able to work independently and with a team.
Must be able to work well under pressure and meet short deadlines.
Must be able to work some weekends as needed.

Available Shifts:
Sunday to Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., extra hours and/or weekends may be required to meet business needs.
Training to start will be Monday to Friday 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Tuesday to Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., extra hours and/or weekend may be required meet business needs. Hours may change to Tuesday to Saturday 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. when laboratory schedule changes.
Training to start will be Monday to Friday 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
