We are seeking an as experienced individual to work as a *Biologist *at the National Institutes of Health in *Bethesda, MD*.

This is a long-term contract position which offers:

*TASKS/SERVICES. The contractor shall: *

* Perform cell culture and related techniques, including human iPSC culture

* Perform basic molecular biology and biochemistry techniques such as cloning, PCR, cell lysate generation, immunostaining, and western blot analysis.

* Follow established procedures and protocols; utilize aseptic technique to perform experiments when appropriate.

* Make amendments to biosafety protocols.

* Monitor inventory levels and proper storage of materials and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures.

* Manage inventory of materials and supplies, including organization of item location and updating online inventory management system

* Monitor equipment performance and maintenance schedules.

* Collect and enter research data into laboratory notebooks and databases; assemble and/or format test results; review for accuracy; prepare reports and summaries.

* Maintain and update online records of primary cells and cell lines, antibodies and plasmids, implement organization system for these reagents.

* Ensure that all plasmids and other hazardous biologicals are registered with the IBC.

* Prepare lab chemical solutions, aliquot reagents, and autoclave lab items.

* Perform inventory of existing supplies/reagents and prepare purchase orders for all laboratory supplies, reagents and equipment.

* Receive and put away packages for laboratory; notify staff of receipt; collect shipping receipts and keep for audits.

* Mentor trainees including summer students, post-bac IRTAs, and PhD students in the technical performance of basic cell culture and molecular biology work.

*REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have: *

* Master's degree in Biology or a related discipline.

* Minimum of five (5) years of related experience.

* Previous experience in an academic or government laboratory.

* Experience in histological, immunostaining and microscopy techniques.

* Strong communications skills, both oral and written.

* Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.

* Ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail.

* Ability to mentor trainees in the laboratory, including summer students, post-bac IRTAs, and Ph.D. students.
