McCormick Taylor is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our growing Energy/Utilities group. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative team environment. This position will consist primarily of field work, as well as some time spent working in our Landover, MD office (preferred, but we are open to other office locations in the region for the right fit). Previous experience collaborating with team members virtually is preferred.

The position will involve conducting environmental compliance inspections on active construction projects occurring largely in the DC Metro region. The position will also involve development and review of permit applications as well as other natural resource related field work for linear projects; both Transportation and Energy. The ideal candidate will be comfortable and capable working in the field in all seasons, sometimes in inclement weather, and have a basic understanding of construction techniques and construction site protocols.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or a related natural resource-focused field
  • 2-6+ years of professional experience
  • Experience and qualifications in MD, DC, and VA is preferred
  • Detailed knowledge of Erosion and Sediment Control Practices
  • Basic understanding of hydrology, environmental regulations,
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented with the ability to successfully multi-task
  • Must be willing and able to work 8 - 12 hrs/day in the field in all seasons with some weekend work.
  • Must have a valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and be willing and able to drive up to 100 miles per day.
