Cramer Fish Sciences (CFS) has an immediate need for a Biological Technician based out of our West Sacramento, CA office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely conduct field and lab work under supervision for a wide array of projects
- Perform laboratory work, including freshwater invertebrate sample processing and tissue preparation (eye lens and otoliths) for microchemistry analysis
- Review videos to identify and enumerate common Delta fish and zooplankton species
- Perform hands on work which may include fish trapping and visual estimation techniques (e.g., boat-based video sampling, snorkel surveys)
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Ability to accurately interpret and follow established protocols, guidelines, and procedures
- Ability to produce accurate, timely and quality work products and be accountable for meeting objectives

Candidates must be comfortable with, and able to:
- work full days in a laboratory/office environment at a microscope or a computer screen
- work in an aquatic environment including working from a boat platform and wading in rivers, streams, and lakes
- work effectively in inclement weather, including hot, cold, rain and fog conditions
Desired Experience
- Stream invertebrate taxonomy
- Microchemistry sample preparation
- California freshwater fish identification
- Environmental science experience including, stream ecology, fisheries, or limnology
- Data recording and management
- ArcGIS and/or QGIS
Education/Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to work alone or as part of a team collecting field or laboratory data. Working knowledge of the scientific method and its application in field experiments.
- Science-Business balance. Demonstrated expertise and be passionate about science, natural resources and resolving complex fishery problems.
- Bachelor's degree in Fisheries, Biology, or related science degree, or four years of related experience, or a combination of undergraduate education and related experience
- Proficient with MS Office Suite
Compensation and Benefits:

- This position is temporary and has an expected duration is 3-4 months, with opportunities for extension or conversion to a permanent position for qualified candidates
