Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Environmental Scientist for employment in the Arlington or Glen Allen, VA offices with a background in environmental and regulatory compliance. The position will provide many challenges, an opportunity to work with multiple industrial clients, and an opportunity to gain experience in multiple environmental consulting disciplines.
This position is expected to begin in July 2021.

About DCSA-Environment
With world class technical expertise, leading edge technology and innovative project delivery capability around the world, AECOM's global environmental practice helps industry and government meet their business goals - to achieve compliance, reduce or eliminate risks and manage impacts. We provide advisory and technical services to help clients cleanup and close contaminated sites and surplus operational facilities and restore them for reuse, plan and permit new facilities, address critical climate change issues, restore habitats and water quality, protect natural and cultural resources, maintain compliance, and cost effectively manage residuals and wastes.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
This person will be responsible for executing project tasks for industrial and commercial clients under the direction and mentorship of senior technical staff. Projects may include wetland and stream identification, threatened and endangered species surveys, reporting, federal/state/local permitting, and additional field support activities.
- Executing all work safely and in a professional manner.
- Preparing calculations, reports, permit applications, compliance plans, and other technical documents.
- Supporting environmental investigation and remediation projects.
- Complying with the AECOM quality management system.
- Utilizes basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.
- Collects and enters data, and applies technical principles and theories.
- Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
- Entry-level position; may not require previous experience.
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS of Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or a similar field
- U.S. Citizenship Required
- Valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- GIS
- GPS experience
- Desire and willingness to work outdoors in various conditions
