The Department of Cancer Biology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of beta cell biology, diabetes and neuroendocrine tumor (NET) animal models, strong background in immunology, metabolism, cell and molecular biology, bioinformatics, and statistical analysis skills. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.
Responsibilities may include investigation of the regulation of beta cell and insulinoma cell proliferation and signaling, diabetes and neuroendocrine tumors via the menin pathway and epigenetic control, using a wide range of technologies including cell and molecular biology, animal models and immunology.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to further develop advanced skills of critical scientific thinking, immunological regulation of beta cells and neuroendocrine tumor cells, prepare manuscripts and grant applications, present research findings in national meetings, mentor junior scientists, and further advance career by participating career training offered by the University.
Candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years postdoctoral experience
