We are seeking a counter Biological Weapons Expert to provide technical support in the execution and evaluation of research and development projects in Herndon, VA for our high-profile customer.

You will be a member of a highly specialized team of scientific subject matter experts that address and assess highly technical programs for a government client. As a member of this team, you will develop, review, and enhance overall assessments or technical interpretations by evaluating the scientific literature, reviewing experimental research, and utilizing new technologies to enhance our client's mission capabilities through the elimination of knowledge gaps. Your team members are comprised of experts with direct experience in biodefense, bioinformatics, and forensics. Your expertise in the biomedical sciences will address issues in biological terrorism, human performance enhancement, biometrics, and synthetic biology.

This position is contingent upon contract award.

As a member of this team, your daily activities will include:
  • Provide overall assessments and interpretation of biomedical information from a SME perspective
  • Review and evaluate results from microbial diagnostics or assays
  • Utilize techniques to detect, characterize, and distinguish biological threat agents
  • Address critical dual use knowledge gaps for the biological sciences
  • Enhance the client's mission capability in the biomedical sciences


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of a M.S. degree in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Toxicology, Environmental Sciences, Biochemistry, or other related field with 6+ years of experience; a BS and 8+ years of directly related experience may be considered
  • Experience with in vitro, in vivo, and in silico experimentation
  • Experience with testing and using innovative sample collection devices
  • 5+ years of experience in field or environmental microbiology
  • This position requires the candidate to have a current TS/SCI security clearance and complete a Polygraph to remain on the contract

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Toxicology, Environmental Sciences, Biochemistry, or related fields with 3+ years of directly related experience
  • Knowledge and skills to conduct threat assessments of biothreat agents, production facilities, and dissemination equipment
  • Expertise with a broad range of laboratory or environmental bacteriology
  • Expertise in fermentation, post-culture purification, and formulation methods
  • Understanding and evaluation of building biomedical infrastructures
  • Knowledge with the current use and application of microbial diagnostic technologies
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork skills
