Kleinschmidt has an opening for a Licensing and Permitting Coordinator in our Falmouth, Maine or Pittsfield, Maine office. We will also consider placement in other Kleinschmidt offices or a home office, depending on location and work experience.

The successful candidate will assist regulatory professionals and scientists with a wide range of tasks, including preparing applications for federal hydropower licenses, preparing other state and federal environmental permits, and developing environmental analyses. This position may include occasional fieldwork assisting with outdoor recreation, fisheries and other biological field studies.

Qualifications
  • BA/BS Degree Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Ecology, Planning, Outdoor Recreation, or a related field, ideally with at least 2 years of related experience
  • Professional or collegiate-level writing, communication, and research techniques
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite software - Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and track multiple project assignments
  • Possess the ability to interface with the public, agencies, and clients in a variety of settings
  • Ability to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team and communicate assignment of tasks to other staff as necessary
  • Must be able to travel on occasion for in-state and out-of-state meetings or assignments
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Permanent authorization to work in the United States and/or the ability to acquire work authorization in CAN is required

Desired Experience:
  • Familiar with State and Federal permitting processes (i.e. US Army Corps of Engineers 404 permits, State 401 Clean Water Act)
  • Knowledge of federal regulations and acts such as the National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act), National Historic Preservation Act), Coastal Zone Management Act, etc.
