Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is seeking an Environmental Technician to join our team in Minneapolis, MN. The successful candidate will support a diverse portfolio of environmental projects with tasks including soil, groundwater and soil vapor sampling, oversight of monitoring well installation, regulated materials surveys, operation and maintenance of soil and groundwater remediation systems, and other field tasks in support of environmental investigation and remediation projects. Additional tasks may involve report preparation support, subcontractor coordination and other activities under the general supervision of project managers, engineers and geologists.

Key Responsibilities

Will work independently or as part of a field team, under the general supervision of Senior Staff
Set up, maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot sampling equipment
Collect and evaluate field measurements and record data on field reports
Field activities include logging of soil borings and rock cores, design and oversight of groundwater monitoring well installations, collection of surface soil, subsurface soil, groundwater, soil vapor, surface-water and sediment samples
Responsible for collection and interpretation of hydrogeologic data under direction of Senior Staff (water levels, slug tests, pumping tests)
Interact with client, contractor or subcontractor representatives on project sites
Office activities include support for work plan preparation, investigation reports and other project documents
Data entry and presentation of field sampling results, including report tables and appendices
Creation of report figures using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software or preparation of subsurface boring logs using gINT
Conduct interpretation of analytical results under the supervision of Senior Staff
Follow company safety standards, participate in safety training, prepare and implement site safety plans
The position is estimated at approximately 70% field work and 30% office work - project sites include federal and state government, industrial and commercial sites
Regional and overnight travel will be required, as applicable.

Skills / Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as environmental science, environmental engineering, or geology
2+ years of experience with environmental applications in site investigation or remediation
Ability to prepare daily reports and submit those reports on a timely basis
Must be a self-starter, team oriented, with strong work ethic
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Flexibility to work outside normal business hours, as required
Field activities may require working in unfavorable weather conditions or with hazardous materials and in hazardous conditions - within the structure of Wood's safety program
Must pass drug test, physical, and background check and must have a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record in accordance with Wood's driving (Motor Vehicle Safety) policy
Role may require frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs
Very motivated, well organized, detail oriented and excellent troubleshooting skills
Strong computer skills and proficiency in the MS Office suite
Experience with GIS, gINT or EQuIS a plus
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Certification with current 8-hour refresher is preferred but not required - Wood will provide all necessary training for the selected candidate, as applicable
