We are seeking a Biologist to support the overall functions of the Vaccine Production Program at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
- Perform culture mammalian cells in plates, shake flasks, and small-scale bioreactors with aseptic technique.
- Perfom transfection, selection, and single-cell cloning of mammalian cells.
- Perform plasmid cloning by PCR, restriction digest and bacterial culture.
- Prepare Medium/reagents, equipment maintenance, and order supplies.
- Write and review standard operating procedures and technical reports.
- Maintain complete documentation records to support regulatory filings.
- B.S. in Biological Sciences with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience or M.S. in Biological Sciences with independent research experience in an academic or industrial setting. Advanced degree holders will not be considered.
- Hands-on experience with aseptic technique and mammalian cell culture along with supporting technologies for cell line engineering including cell counting, high-throughput transfection, single-cell cloning, and flow cytometry.
- Familiarity with molecular cloning methods, PCR, and agarose gel electrophoresis.
- Experience in preparing technical reports, standard operating procedures, and data presentations.
- Ability to work independently to execute defined experiments and troubleshoot issues as needed to meet project timelines.
- Ability to effectively communicate plans, results, challenges, and ideas to other team members in oral and written forms.
- Experience in monoclonal antibody and/or vaccine production preferred.
