Job Description Summary
Work with a highly interactive research team to discover the mechanisms of intracellular transport and molecular basis of cardiomyopathies. With limited supervision, express proteins, perform experiments, and manage the laboratory.
Job Description
Research Specialist B:
- Work with the research team to express and purify cytoskeletal and muscle proteins from bacterial and eukaryotic cells.
- Perform microscopy and computer image analyses.
- Prepare DNA constructs using molecular biology techniques
- Assist the research team with on-going experiments.
- Maintain and catalog DNA constructs and viruses
- Order and maintain supplies, equipment and other lab stocks.
- Manage physical lab organization and general lab maintenance
- Prepare solutions and reagents; autoclave media, glass, and plasticware
- Assist in training other laboratory personnel including students
- Other duties as assigned.
Research Specialist C:
All duties listed above plus the following:
Under limited supervision:
- Work collaboratively with the research team to design and plan experiments and to write protocols.
- Analyze data and write lab reports.
- Present data at conferences and meetings.
- Prepare scientific reports and manuscript submissions.
