We are currently looking for a Senior Director in our Public Affairs, Energy & Natural Resources group with specific expertise in the power and renewables sector. The Senior Director will take a leadership role in the development and management of communications programs such as advocacy campaigns, corporate communications, stakeholder engagement, and interacting with media. The Senior Director will oversee the development and execution of multi-stakeholder communications activities, which requires knowledge of the energy industry, including but not limited to federal and state policy applicable to the utility and power sector - such as tax, trade, environment, infrastructure, climate change, national security, and financing.
The Senior Director is a primary client counselor and will be a valuable member of a growing global practice, supporting projects across a variety of industry sectors. A successful Senior Director will work in collaboration with colleagues and clients to provide tailored solutions that successfully engage employees and communicate change within organizations. She or he is confident in an entrepreneurial environment, with the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, the media, and other relevant stakeholders. The Senior Director must operate with the utmost integrity, deliver high quality, client-ready work, and contribute to new business activities as well as internal firm and team development initiatives. Periodic travel is required.

What You'll Do

- Develop strategic proposals and communications plans for clients and new business prospects
- Serve as a primary client contact, providing strategic counsel directly to clients in meetings, conference calls and while working on client sites
- Oversee project management and document development to ensure deadlines are met and objectives are achieved
- Anticipate client needs and concerns and work to proactively to address them
- Drive new business pursuits, including the development of thought leadership, identification of business prospects and ongoing networking on behalf of the firm
- Support team training and professional development and serve as a coach to early career professionals on the team
- Manage profitability and utilization on multiple projects and accounts

Basic Qualifications
- 10-15 years of communications, political/issues campaign, energy industry or trade association experience
- Ability to advise and secure confidence of senior communications and C-level client contacts, as well as other outside legal and financial advisors
- Excellent organizational skills and written and verbal presentation skills
- Proven project management track record and comfort managing and working with staff at all levels
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail and a service-oriented attitude
- Ability to work under pressing deadlines across multiple projects and portray calm in the face of difficult situations to clients and other team members
- Track record of managing communications with multiple stakeholders (investors, employees, customers, media, etc.) during hostile and friendly transactions, bankruptcies, crises, distressed and litigation scenarios
