Assistant Environmental Manager
Description:
This position is responsible for assisting with the day to day operations of the Wastewater Treatment, Solid Waste, and Water Resources. This will include the training and supervision of staff, mtc of facility, housekeeping, safety and all regulatory compliance of the treatment facilities. Successful applicants will Gather and submit all samples in compliance with EPA Regulations. Will assist the manager in insuring that all documentation is in place and kept up to date per JBS Policy and Local, State and Federal Agencies.
Assist with main responsibilities:
- Manage Wastewater Department
- Supervise Wastewater personnel
- Perform tests as required to treat water properly
- Train personnel in best practices for keeping water in compliance with City and State requirements
- Keep accurate records and ensure all documentation is kept up to date and accurate
- Take and submit water samples as required
- Make sure all safety rules and requirements are followed
- Communicate effectively with regulators on matters related to permitting, expansion and non-compliance issues.
- Ensure that the plant maintains necessary environmental permits.
- Investigate complaints.
- Provide for environmental training for staff and division personnel.
- Ensure that all facilities have adequate and efficient environmental protection systems. Supervise design, construction and startup as may be required. Collaborate with Division Engineers on design, budgeting, startup and permitting on projects assigned to them. Stay current on changing regulations and technology.
- Participate in the emergency and chemical release reporting and response program.
- Provide reports to management
- Manage Utility's, Water, Gas and Electric.
- Report water usage daily.
- Develop water saving projects and initiatives
Working Conditions:
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or similar field experience preferred.
- Proven management skills.
- Experience with environmental engineering.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance, wastewater treatment and air permitting programs.
- Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite Products (Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook).
- Previous experience working with and appropriately handling confidential information.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or similar field preferred.
The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:
- Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
- Paid Time off: sick leave, vacation and 6 company observed holidays;
- 401(k): eligible after the 1st day of employment including company match which begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule
- Base salary range of $67,305 - $87,465
- This position is eligible to participate in the Company's annual bonus plan; the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
