Corning's Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays ("LCDs") that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.

Purpose of position:
  • Responsible for promoting a safe, and environmentally compliant work environment for all employees throughout the manufacturing facility and to maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state local, and corporate environmental and safety laws.


Roles and responsibilities:
  • Facilitate and communicate Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) programs and policies.
  • Develop and work towards all required Corporate and CDT EHS policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Manage environmental permits, hazardous waste, reduction of waste, and other environmental applicable programs.
  • Lead and participate in review of new equipment, process, or chemicals to assure safety and environmental requirements are assessed and understood prior to activity.
  • Implement special project assignments related to facility and/or equipment layouts.
  • Ensure Material Handling programs are established and upheld.
  • Lead Gensuite framework modules and response programs
  • Mentor and coach SME's on their assigned safety programs.
  • Ergonomic evaluations and improvements.
  • Implement safety programs to develop an inter-dependent safety culture where everyone is watching out for everyone's safety
  • Ensures effective development and delivery of all EHS related training and education programs and maintain EHS records.
  • Responds, in conjunction with supervisors/management, to EH&S emergencies, investigates accidents, participates along with other groups, and recommends corrective and preventive action.
  • Coordinates with CDT for reporting, tracking, and trend analysis of EHS metrics.
  • Maintain SDS system and ensure new materials and products have appropriate SDS sheets and training.
  • Works with leadership to set annual targets for injury reduction and develop the Safety Annual Plan and drive necessary actions to meet or exceed targets.
  • Leads internal audits and ensure timely corrective action for discrepancies and work with internal and external groups to handle industrial and chemical hygiene, safety, health and environmental audits/ inspections.
  • Able to react to changing requirements and perform other tasks as assigned.
  • Dotted line relationships with CDT EHS requires off hour support and meetings


Education requirements:
  • We require a Bachelor's degree in technical field, preferred, but not limited to Engineering or Environmental and Safety.
  • We are seeking a minimum 3+ years experience in a safety role within a manufacturing
  • Certified Safety Professional.
  • Ability to manage a budget and forecast spending
  • Effective leadership, organization, and planning skills, with ability to handle changing priorities and ambiguity
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Attention to detail.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work in team environment and motivate others
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), social, and influencing skills.


Desired skills:
  • Experience in union environment


Travel:
  • We anticipate up to 5% domestically, potential international
