Research Associate - Neurobiology If you are looking to make an impact as a Research Associate or Sr. Research Associate at an exciting, early-stage venture-backed biotech company, please read on.

We are an early-stage venture-backed biotech company based in South San Francisco. Our revolutionary chemogenetic platform aims to control the activity of cells to treat disease. We are growing rapidly and adding talented individuals to our team of industry leaders.

If you have 1-2+ years' post-grad lab research experience (academic or industry), within a similar space, this is the role for you.
Top Reasons to Work with Us - Revolutionary platform
- Fast-paced environment
- Work with industry leaders
What You Will Be Doing You will work under the guidance of a scientist to support selection and characterization of engineered ligand-gated ion channel candidates via in vitro imaging and electrophysiology assays. You will bring significant experience in neuronal primary culture, including tissue harvest, cell culture and in vitro viral vector transduction along with an enthusiastic approach to research.
Responsibilities:
- Tissue Harvest: Dissection of CNS and PNS tissue from rodents and isolation of cell-bearing areas for downstream primary culture purposes. Areas of interest include sensory neuron ganglia and hippocampus.
- Neuronal Cell Culture: Preparing, maintaining and troubleshooting one or more rodent primary neuronal subtypes in culture and preparing and maintaining cultures from human primary sensory neuronal tissue. Culture, maintain and troubleshoot two or more human IPSC-derived neuronal cell lines.
- In vitro Transductions: Perform transductions of neuronal cultures using AAV-based viral vectors, and oversee stocks of virus. Maintaining, transfecting, and transducing IPSC-derived/standard mammalian cell lines. Design and execute experiments for culture and transduction condition optimization.
- In vitro Imaging Assays: Perform immunocytochemistry and live-cell based assays in support of engineered ligand-gated ion channel candidate characterization.
- General Lab Duties: Fulfilling company-wide drug compound requests; making solutions, buffers, and compound dilutions to support electrophysiology and cellular & molecular neuroscience; ordering, receiving and stocking supplies, inventory tracking, and representing group in company stockroom committee.
