Opportunity Summary
Abt Associates' $314 million, USAID-funded Integrated Health Program (USAID IHP) seeks to strengthen the capacity of Congolese institutions and communities to deliver quality, integrated health services to sustainably improve the health status of the Congolese population. Now in its third year, the Program is nearly fully staffed and is far along with its activity implementation.
As part of its mission to recruit qualified local staff in the DRC, Abt is seeking to build the pool of Congolese talent through a Fellowship Program. The Fellow will build their skills in USAID program management, public health technical expertise, monitoring and evaluation, project communications and more. The Fellow will also have opportunity to learn about and support health technical areas including maternal, newborn, and child health; malaria; tuberculosis; reproductive health and family planning; nutrition; and water, sanitation, and hygiene.
It is envisioned that the Abt IDD Program Fellow will be assigned to several projects and initiatives (Division operations, business development, etc) during his/her time during the fellowship. At the same time, Abt IDD Program Fellow will add value to Abt Associates by bringing relevant experience and skills to the organization, in particular by offering insights and solutions based on their background. The incumbent will contribute technically, programmatically and culturally to our work in IDD.
This is a full-time fixed-term position, for the duration of approximately one year at Abt HQ (or other location from which the Fellow can work remotely). After the one-year mark, the Fellow may have the opportunity to work for Abt in the DRC _._ We estimate that while at HQ, approximately 50% of the Fellow's time would be dedicated to USAID IHP. Additional assignments will be determined once the Fellow joins Abt, as tasks and responsibilities will be dependent on other projects or initiatives that are underway at the time.

- Support administrative needs such as organizing project documents and project files and other tasks/duties, as needed.
- Support the implementation of technical activities; contribute to technical activities as needed and in line with background and experience.
- Based on the candidates' experience and interests, identify a technical area of expertise or other competency that the Fellow can develop while at Abt.
