The US Research and Innovation (R&I) Environment, Health &
Safety department provides direct support to and collaborates with all US based
Research and Innovation departments so they can achieve their business
objectives in a safe and environmentally friendly and sustainable manner.
The group is seeking to add an EHS professional who, under minimal supervision,
performs duties in a wide range of EHS disciplines to aid in maintaining
compliance with internal EHS standards and, federal and state regulatory
requirements. This position will supplement the existing EHS
professionals in providing these services to business partners while receiving
on the job experience and mentoring in the occupational safety, health and
environmental protection fields.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Assist in the development,
    implementation and maintenance of EHS programs, procedures, systems and
    associated training

  • Lead and Manage the 6S (5S and
    Safety) Committee

  • Participate in monthly safety
    inspections

  • Recommend improvements in
    processes, design, procedures and equipment to minimize hazards

  • Assist with management of
    hazardous and non-hazardous waste and associated programs, including
    conducting of quarterly waste inspections

  • Manage EHS aspects of the new
    hire safety training and onboarding process

  • Manages the on-line EHS
    training system

  • Conduct ergonomic assessments
    and provide follow-up actions

  • Assist in contractor safety
    reviews

  • Manage all EHS data input,
    tracking and reporting and prepare EHS PowerPoint presentations when
    needed

  • Create and Manage the US
    R&I EHS newsletter

  • Assist in hazard and risk
    assessments

  • Lead incident investigations
    and near-miss cases

  • Manage Medical Response Team

  • Manage First-aid
    cabinets/AED/CPR program

  • Manage the Emergency Action Plan and coordinate
    emergency evacuation drills



Requirements:


  • A bachelor's degree in
    occupational safety, health, biological, chemical or physical sciences, or
    a closely related discipline.

  • 3-5 yrs of EHS experience

  • EHS Certified Professional
    designations (ex. ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM, etc)(preferred)

  • Project management skills

  • Knowledgeable of OSHA, EPA, DOT
    and other local, state and federal regulations

  • Excellent interpersonal,
    communication (written/oral), and organizational skills required.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft
    Office applications: Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Must be legally eligible to
    work in the US on an on-going basis without the need for sponsorship now
    or in the future.

  • Computer proficiency and
    aptitude for technology.

  • Must be able to work
    effectively in a matrix organization that provides services to multiple
    business partners.

  • Self-motivated.
