Hourly Wage: $14.56/Regular/Full-Time
Location: Columbia River WA/OR
Incumbent is responsible for a variety of semi-technical and semi-skilled tasks relating to fisheries management in the zone 6 tribal fisheries. Duties include but are not limited to: collection of genetic samples from fish harvested in the zone 6 fisheries, recording of field data, harvest monitoring, sturgeon sampling, and data entry, written and oral communications with various agency personnel and fish buyers to coordinate monitoring and sample collection efforts.

Duties include but are not limited to: collection of genetic samples from fish harvested in the zone 6 fisheries, recording of field data, harvest monitoring, sturgeon sampling, and data entry, written and oral communications with various agency personnel and fish buyers to coordinate monitoring and sample collection efforts.
Examples of Work Performed:
- Collect genetic samples while accurately recording bio-sampling data such as: species, length, and marks sex.
- As a member of the harvest monitoring team: collect, catch and harvest data through on-site monitoring or fishermen interviews. Record data such as fishing effort, catch, species, length, weight, sex, etc.
- Assist with hatchery surplus events to replenish the tribal freezer storage for funerals, memorials, etc.
- Enter data from collected genetic samples.
- Provide brief written summaries of samples collected during specific sampling periods.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of standard fisheries principles and procedures.
- Knowledge and skills of basic computer and email programs including: Windows 10, MS Word, Excel, Gmail, and WWW applications.
- Ability to take some leadership responsibilities and at times work independently with little to no supervision.
- Ability to express ideas effectively both orally and in written form.
- Ability to deal tactfully with tribal fishers, fish buyers, other agency personnel, and the general public.
- Ability to work outside under all types of conditions and perform physical labor.
- Ability to ensure GSA vehicle provided is operated in a safe manner and maintained according to prescribed maintenance schedules.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work along the Columbia River during the Zone 6 harvest monitoring seasons; duty station is at fishing sites along the Columbia River and its tributaries.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year as a Fish Tech II and have demonstrated the ability to perform the duties listed.
- Required to pass pre-employment drug test.
- Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.
