Your Responsibilities
As an Environmental Engineer for John Deere Dubuque Works in Dubuque, IA, you will work on a team to manage environmental programs and the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) to assure compliance with environmental laws and regulations. In order to do this, you will:
- Compile necessary data, documentation and correspondence to comply with environmental regulations and EMS requirements.
- Coordinate and conduct environmental audits to verify conformance with the EMS standards and applicable environmental laws and regulations.
- Oversee implementation of assigned programs by providing work direction to specific factory employees concerning environmental requirements.
- Develop recommendations for environmental process/program improvements to meet and improve upon the environmental program and EMS requirements.
- Respond to questions or requests for information relevant to environmental issues from workgroups inside and/or outside the company.
- Develop and deliver relevant and effective training to employees.
- Respond to emergency situations that could occur inside or outside of standard working hours.
- Foster positive working relationships with regulatory agency contacts and critical environmental suppliers.

What Skills You Need
- 2 or more years of work experience as an environmental professional.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations at the state and federal level.
- Skill in interpersonal communications, negotiations and conflict resolution to allow successful implementation of environmental programs and ISO 14001 EMS requirements.
- Experience in developing and/or updating environmental plans, permits, and standard operating procedures.
What Makes You Stand Out
- Experience working in the environmental compliance field at a manufacturing facility.
- Experience with environmental management systems.
- Experience with Clean Air Act regulation including permitting and compliance activities.
- Experience with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
- Experience with wastewater sampling and operation.
- Experience with NPDES Regulation.
- Experience with Office 365 tools.
Education
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering/Science, Chemical Engineering or related Engineering/Science discipline
