Overview:
Oncorus is seeking an experienced Senior Scientist to join our Molecular Biology and Virology group. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team that is focused on the discovery and validation of novel viral oncolytics, and will be responsible for implementing a research plan geared towards developing a mechanistic understanding of virus-host interactions and how they can be manipulated to generate a beneficial therapeutic response. Current efforts of the team are focused on the engineering and optimization of HSV-1 virus platform for application in glioblastoma and other tumors of the CNS. Applicants should have established expertise in cancer biology as well as a demonstrated by a track record of high-impact publications.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering of viral gene transfer vectors and cell lines using established molecular biology techniques. Hands on expertise using siRNA/shRNA gene knockdown and CRISPR/Cas gene knockout technologies is highly desirable
- Development and implementation of relevant assays to confirm gene delivery and subsequent phenotypic changes associated with payload expression
- Implementation of effective screening paradigms to expedite project progression and IND candidate nomination
- Close collaboration with the in vivo pharmacology, immunology, and translational biology teams to achieve project milestones
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. degree in virology or molecular biology with at least 4 years of post-degree research experience
- Demonstrated expertise in genomics and/or molecular biology essential. Previous experience in some aspect of virology is highly desirable
- Experience working with large scale structural and functional genomic datasets is highly desirable
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment is essential
