Job Description
About This Role
The Translational Biology Department at Biogen is seeking a skilled, and highly motivated Associate Scientist to join our Genomic Targets Biology team. This highly collaborative and dynamic group is responsible for providing genomic and RNA biology expertise to the R&D organization and specifically, applies discoveries in these disciplines to support Biogen's drug discovery research teams and clinical development programs. As an Associate Scientist you will support the Genomic Targets Biology team with your molecular biology and cell culture skills with an emphasis on defining the RNA biology of our target genes and its relationship to disease. You will work both independently and collaboratively to design and execute experiments using sound scientific judgment and will effectively communicate results to supervisors and project teams.
What You'll Do
· RNA isoform characterization and quantification from cell- and animal-based models using state of the art technologies, including qPCR, ddPCR and NGS.
· Execution of RNA splicing assays, including mini-gene reporter generation and modification.
· Perform cell culture and drug treatments to interrogate effects on the transcriptome and proteome.
· Deliver experimental results and analyses to supervisors and project teams to help advance novel therapeutic targets.
· Maintain constant awareness of novel technologies and adapt new protocols from literature.
· Maintain electronic laboratory notebooks, present data to the team, and write study reports.

You have demonstrated an ability to work independently but in the context of a team. You are very effective at prioritizing responsibilities, and adept at finding solutions for technical challenges in addition to having strong collaboration, organizational, and communication skills.
Qualifications
Required Skills
· Asociate Scientist II required: Bachelor's degree and 0-2 years of experience.
· Associate Scientist III required: Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience or Master's degree and 0-2 years of experience.
· Proven expertise in molecular and cellular biology techniques, including PCR, gel electrophoresis, protein assays, mammalian cell culture, and modern cloning techniques.
