Job Description
This position performs routine and complex microbiological testing on bulk chemicals and drug products (raw materials and drug product) including environmental monitoring of rooms (air/surface/etc), compressed gases, clean steam, water, media and reagent preparation and growth promotion utilizing good documentation and compliance to procedures.
Primary Activities:
- Perform the environmental monitoring of the classified areas and support facilities during and after production
- Collect and test water, steam, air and compressed gases for micro testing
- Trending and various assessments/reports as required
- Test raw material, in-process, finished goods, stability samples as applicable
- Prepare media and perform growth promotion
- Conduct microbial identifications
- Data entry and Review data generated by other microbiologist(s) as needed
- Prepare samples for shipment to contract labs as applicable
- Support Production, Validation, and Quality Assurance needs
- Follow Teva Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures
Secondary Activities:
- Lab organizational/operational set-u and qualification
- Support validation/qualification activities (process/equipment/facility)
- Develop, Transfer and Validate microbiology test methods
Qualifications
Education:
- A Bachelor's of Science degree in Microbiology with a suggested minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Knowledge of microbiology subject matter, microbiology tests, aseptic techniques
- Basic knowledge of cGMPs, GLP, FDA guidelines, USP and EP and applicable regulatory requirements
- Reading, understanding and compliance to company policies, procedures
- Microscope, autoclave, laminar flow hood usage
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, basic computer skills and data entry
- Detail oriented, team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal input from management, set priorities, schedule, execute and complete project to meet deadlines
