At Equinix, Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) stewardship is of paramount concern. This position is responsible for the Regional/Sub regional/Country implementation, enforcement, and continuous improvement of Equinix's Global EHS policies and processes. It will also play a key role in further enhancing culture of safety awareness within our data center environments.

Responsibilities
  • Implements a comprehensive EHS Program for the sites in scope in partnership with Global EHS, Data Center Leadership, and Country/ Site EHS Leads. Ensures compliance with local, state, country and/or federal regulations.
  • Works closely with IBX Management and Staff to enhance our Culture of Environmental, Health and Safety compliance.
  • Primary force driving employee engagement in EHS programs at each Regional/Sub Regional/Country level and Data Centers within, enhancing culture of teamwork, influencing others to prioritize EHS as a key component to success.
  • Responsible for development and continued implementation of Environmental, Health and Safety requirements (e.g. environmental permits, spill prevention plans, site inspections, PPE requirements, risk assessments, hazardous chemical inventory)
  • Performs routine site inspections and monitors EHS performance for a group of IBXs including holding routine EHS meetings working with site management/leads for further engagement
  • Ensures reporting, analyzes trends, and makes recommendations to modify and improve EHS practices working with Global EHS as appropriate.
  • Develops and monitors a program to ensure customer, employee, subcontractor EHS practices in region.
  • Ensures all environmental health and safety incidents are reported are investigated using proper root cause analysis methods working with Global EHS as appropriate.
  • Develop, organizes, monitors, and conducts EHS training as needed and provides leadership for community of EHS site leads at each site.
  • Responsible for supporting of site level EHS compliance budgets and forecast planning working with site management/leads (as applicable)
  • Implements Equinix Global EHS policies and procedures and tools as appropriate and implements compliance standards (14001, 450001 and 50001 as applicable)
  • Supports Customer audits on EHS as required.
  • Responsible for ensuring any audit findings (customer, external, internal audits) have been resolved within their scope of responsibility
  • Ensures all required EHS records are maintained for each site within the scope assigned (e.g. permits, risk assessments, training, inspections, EHS compliance binder etc.)
  • Evaluates new workplace changes, processes, equipment, substances, or procedures for compliance. Recommends corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Supports as a co-auditor, the internal EHS audit program at another region/country/Data Center as requested by Global EHS.
  • This position will require travel to the company's various Data Centers within assigned scope of Data Centers. It may also require additional national and international travel.
  • Must possess a valid Driver License and ability to obtain a passport.


Qualifications
  • 10+ years in experience with at least 5+ years data center management or comparable sector such as construction; hospital; or other industrial environments
  • 4+ years running or supporting an EHS program in data center, construction, manufacturing, or similar sector.
  • Undergraduate degree in Science or Engineering preferred but not required (so long as demonstrated comparable experience), Graduate Degree a plus.
  • Additional licenses and certifications a plus (e.g. CSP, PE, OSHA 40 HR, NEBOSH or local equivalents).
  • Proactive with strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills, problem solving mind-set, and ability to write reports.
  • High integrity, skilled communicator, ability to multi-task and handle competing priorities working with different levels of colleagues/stakeholders across Equinix.
  • Experience working with various cross-functional teams and cultures
  • Experience with ISO14001, ISO50001 and ISO45001 implementation a plus.
  • May be required to perform on call work to support EHS issues in off hours
