Description
Company Overview

We are a leading mRNA therapeutics company developing a new class of potentially transformative medicines to treat diseases caused by protein or gene dysfunction. Using our proprietary mRNA therapeutic platform (MRT), we create mRNA that encodes functional proteins. Our mRNA is delivered to the target cell where the cell's own machinery recognizes it and translates it, restoring or augmenting protein function to treat or prevent disease.

At Translate Bio, we're also passionate about our five core values: Put People First, Be Approachable, Act as One, Be Tenacious, and Be Bold. These values embody our culture and underscore our mission to bring mRNA therapeutics to all.

Job Summary

Translate Bio is seeking an experienced Scientist or Sr. Scientist to join our growing Target Biology team. The individual in this role will contribute to drug discovery efforts at Translate Bio, particularly focused on lung diseases with high unmet need. He/She will conduct hands-on research to identify and validate new target opportunities, contribute to our understanding of lung drug delivery and efficacy, and help develop and implement new analytical and therapeutic technologies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead drug discovery efforts from the bench for various lung diseases by applying Translate Bio's messenger RNA and lipid nanoparticle platform
  • Work with team to identify and validate new target opportunities in pulmonary disease space using in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo models
  • Propose and implement new technologies and strategies to understand disease mechanisms and drug mechanisms of action
  • Assume additional responsibilities as assigned

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in immunology or similar, plus 2 - 3 years post degree experience in academic or industry setting
  • Demonstrated deep understanding of lung immunology, particularly humoral mucosal immunity, in humans and animal models
  • Technical hands-on proficiency designing engineered monoclonal antibodies of ranging complexity (Fc containing Abs, Ab fragments, Fc fusion proteins)
  • Experience characterizing antibody affinity by Octet or SPR, assessing Fc receptor binding, and pharmacokinetic optimization. Familiarity with viral neutralization assays preferred.
  • Experience working with and analyzing lung tissue and fluids ex vivo. Analysis includes extracting protein and RNA, cell dissociation, isolation of immune cells, flow cytometry, and BALF cytological analysis.
  • Possess basic molecular lab skills such as Western Blot, ELISA, MSD or luminex cytokine assays, and RT-qPCR.
  • Ability to clearly document and communicate results with strong scientific integrity. Desire to be a high impact contributor.
Translate Bio is committed to equal employment opportunity. All applicants must have authorization to work in the U.S.
