EHS Coordinator/Specialist - Safety, Environmental, Training We are currently looking for a Safety Coordinator, EHS Specialist, Safety SME, or even an EHS/SHE Manager to lead the Health, Safety, Wellness, and Environmental areas of our Battle Creek, MI area production/industrial facility.
What You Will Be Doing The Safety Specialist/Coordinator will directly be responsible for all Health and Safety matters at the plant which includes interfacing with OSHA, maintaining compliance to OSHA standards and corporate Policies as well as providing training and support to plant personnel.

Role will break down to be about 75% Safety oriented, 25% environment on the whole, but priorities will shift back and forth based on reporting timelines, issues that come about, unexpected needs, and changes to regulatory standards etc.

In this role you will perform the following:

Safety:
"Assists the Safety Team by attending meetings, taking minutes and conducting follow-up on identified action items.
"Participates in the Corporate safety audit and follows up on identified action items.
"Updates OSHA required written programs and company safety manual, as directed by the Safety Coordinator.
"Directly participates in accident investigations whenever feasible.
"Maintains all safety records including training, hearing tests, and SDS records.
"Conducts investigations into employee inquiries, suggestions and complaints.
"Ensures that all required safety training is scheduled and conducted according to established timeline. Position isnt responsible for performing all the training, but must ensure it is done.
"Participates in New Team Member Orientation and provides required safety training.

Environmental:
"Leads the Environmental Team by putting together meeting agendas, attending meetings, taking minutes and conducting follow-up on all identified action items.
"Manages the Hazardous Waste internal audits and follows up on all identified action items.
"Maintains all Hazardous Waste manifests, supplying information and copies to the environmental consultant as needed.
"Maintains the SDS document system, keeping all records up to date and coordinating with the environmental consultant for listed chemicals.
"Compile monthly an annual metrics for Sustainability reporting.
"Provide the data and documents needed to compile the annual Hazardous Waste, Tier II, Air Emissions Inventory, and Emergency Contingency Plan, then complete the agency submissions.
"Monitors and identifies waste streams that need to be included in the Waste Minimization Plan and require a Waste Determination.
"Coordinate and assist in the initial and annual training for Hazardous Waste and D.O.T for site team members.
"Serve as the Hazardous Waste Coordinator and Emergency Coordinator.
What You Need for this Position The ideally qualified candidate will bring as much of the listed experience below to the role:
"Bachelors degree and minimum of four years of safety and environmental support experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
"Intermediate user of MS Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
"Personal attributes of integrity, credibility and a drive for excellence.
"Engagement. Must care about the future of the company and be willing to invest discretionary effort in the success of our mission and values.
"Strong written and verbal communication skills.
"Intellectual curiosity with a "no excuses/go-getter/can-do" attitude.

Those with experience in developing policies and procedures and conducting Systematic Cause Analysis Techniques (SCAT) and risk assessments and both project, process and personnel management/leadership are desired.

Strong communication skills, including interpersonal and documentation skills, along with an ability to train, motivate and a persuasive yet "information sharing" nature and ability will success in this role, along with a personal level of integrity, credibility and a drive for excellence and success.
